Marketing Update /
Steps for Setting Up E-Commerce

Step 1: Obtain a Merchant ID from a bank or other authorized person or institution. This step is extremely important and no other steps can be taken until this process is complete.

Step 2: Find out from the customer which Signature Authority they would like to use for their Digital ID. We support either Verisign or Thawte. You can refer to Verisign at www.verisign.com or Thawte at www.thawte.com for their current pricing. These certificates will provide a public key needed to activate the SSL (secure socket layer) on the server and enable encryption.

Step 3: Order either an Enhanced or Premium Web Hosting package by submitting a Web Hosting Production Order in Affiliate Management. Be sure to select the Secure Web Server box at the bottom of the form. Please indicate which Digital ID they will be using in the special instructions, and which Web package (Secure Server is not available on the Value package). ISPA will provide a Web form to be filled out by the customer to collect preliminary information about their business. Once that form is completed, we will initiate the request for the Secure Certificate, and let you know what additional information the customer needs to provide.

Step 4: Set up account with Cyber Cash or similar on-line payment service that allows secure acceptance of credit card transactions on the Internet.

Step 5: Develop the web site to be capable of handling on-line transactions. ISPA’s Web Development team can design the customer’s Web site and implement E-commerce for an additional fee. Please call for a quote.

NOTE: These are steps that the customer must take in order to have e-commerce capabilities. All costs for the digital ID and payment system is the responsibility of the customer. If you have questions, call Web Development at (912) 628-6000, x 3304, M-F, 9-6 EST.
